Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 5 out of 5 stars.
I got a Nintendo Switch for my birthday, and I’ve been playing Breath of the Wind pretty much every day since.
It has a beautiful, open world through which you can walk, run, sneak, swim, glide, ride, and teleport. The physics are great, and the gameplay is truely open, allowing players with different styles to use different means to solve them. I haven’t gotten very far in the main plot yet, but the story seems pretty straightforward.
A few bits of advice for those just starting out:
– During a storm, unequip all your metal items. Otherwise, you will be struck by lightning, and it will probably kill you.
– Strategize. You’ll often have to fight large groups of enemies. I like to sneak up while they’re sleeping, or stand on a hill and roll bombs into camp.
– Stock up on arrows. They’re very useful, even if you’re more of a run up and bash ’em kind of player, and you can only buy a few at a time.
– Cook whenever you get the chance, meals provide much better effects than the individual ingredients.
I’ll probably add more to this review once I get through the game, but for now the takeaway is: I’m loving it!
