I don’t read many graphic novels, which makes this a difficult review, but I read it in a single sitting on my recent road trip and thoroughly enjoyed it.
As always, Sanderson crafted a beautifully complex world filled with unique mechanics, cultures, and magic.
The pictures were wonderful, but at times I found it difficult to distinguish the characters. This made it harder to follow conversations than the simple dialogue tags I’m used to.
Unlike the full narrative arc I’d expect in a novel, the plot didn’t get very far. I assume this was due to the episodic formula of the medium. It was frustrating to have the story end just when it was starting to come together, but from a marketing standpoint it definitely left me wanting more and I will surely buy the second book.
